| Bio: | ZEPHYRUS (Zephuros), the personification of the west wind, is described by Hesiod (Theog. 579) as a son of Astraeus and Eos. Zephyrus and Boreas are frequently mentioned together by Homer, and both dwelt together in a palace in Thrace. (Il. ix. 5, Od. v. 295.) By the Harpy Podarge, Zephyrus became the father of the horses Xanthus and Balius, which belonged to Achilles (Hom. Il. xvi. 150, &c.); but he was married to Chloris, whom he had carried off by force, and by whom he had a son Carpus; and then he married Iris the beautiful messenger of Hera and rainbow goddess (Ov. Fast. v. 197; Serv. ad Virg. Eclog. v. 48.) On the sacred road from Athens to Eleusis, there was an altar of Zephyrus. (Paus. i. 37. ยง 1.) I'm not as bad as people might be led to believe. I just get antsy and need to keep moving, see what there is to see. Well, there can only be so much wandering before the little tug toward home is undeniable. Not that I can complain about things. I've seen it all through many, many years. From war to peace, natural disaster and invention, and it's a marvel. Perhaps I've been too long in the mortal realm but it's fascinating. And who could argue, I have a great place in Seattle and how could you not love the coffee? I have the best view of the best snow in the Rockies and can snowboard anytime I want. And then vineyards as far as the eye can see in Sydney. A life like that, immortal or not, you'd think I'd be happy wouldn't you? Yet I'm not. Things have happened in the recent past and even more now, and more than anything else, I need to go home. And make amends. | ||||||||||
